MusicLeader DNA (Development Needs Analysis) is our tailored advice and guidance service for established practitioners working in music education. It gives you the opportunity to discuss your professional development ideas and aspirations with a specially trained adviser on a confidential, one to one basis.

 

Why have a DNA?

There are lots of great reasons!

  • You want to take stock of your career to date and determine next steps
  • You are unsure what your strengths and weaknesses and how to develop these areas
  • You want to gain insights about promoting your practice to employers

 

Who is it for?

MusicLeader DNA is ideal for those practitioners working in music education who have at least one year’s experience. It doesn’t matter what your music specialism is, or what musical field you work in – DNA is tailored to your requirements. If you don’t yet have one year’s experience then you may want to check out our Start Up Programme instead.

 

What happens?

A DNA session last approximately 60 – 90 minutes and involves an in-depth discussion centered on your ideas, priorities and aspirations. Our advisers have an unsurpassed knowledge of career and professional development in the music education sector as well as local knowledge and contacts. By the end of the session you will have produced a professional development action plan that will help guide you on the next stage of your journey.

 

How much?

A MusicLeader DNA is valued at a minimum of £150 per session, however, thanks to funding from Youth Music we are able to bear 80% of this cost. MusicLeader members pay a subsidised rate of only £25 per session. This is considerable value for money for personalised advice and guidance. Feedback from our members indicates that investing in a DNA is well worth it (see the feedback panel on the right hand side of this page).
